Idk bout rapper boyfriends

So my latest music related post is dedicated to the up and coming female rapper and producer Nigar, who goes by the stage name Yungest. Yungest is what you’d describe as a ‘pretty girl gangsta’, with her music exerting cool and trippy beats, a voice silky sweet and a poetic flow. Her music is not the usual stereotype so there definitely is a place for a girl like her in the industry. Her popular sounds include ‘Idk bout rapper boyfriends’, ‘Clouds’ and ‘Muthafuckin Wavy' (ft Drugmills, Yungest & Faze [prod. by Drugmills]). Her latest and newly released track ‘Rare Like A Vinyl’ is already becoming a success with nearly a 1000 plays in a day on Soundcloud.
I interviewed Yungest to find out a bit about her persona, music and lifestyle. Here are the answers she came up with.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU?

‘I was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark but I'm originally Lebanese. I'm a 90's kid, 19 years old.’

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START PRODUCING AND RAPPING?

‘Well, ever since I was little my dad used to play old Krs-One, Mac Dre, Nas and other vinyl’s, and he put me on to music from an early age. I've always been told that I had a great ear for music, so one day I just decided to produce my first beat and people really liked it (or they told me they liked it) I've always wanted to rap and sing, but I've never really had the confidence to do it, so I would stand in the kitchen with the windows wide open and sing/rap as loud as I could, and every time someone walked by, I would lurk out the window to see if they looked up. That's actually how I build the confidence to release my little bedroom recordings, just by seeing strangers smile when they walked by my kitchen.’

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?

‘I see myself in America, preferably New York or LA, in an apartment with a bedroom studio and just living, getting high, doing shows and loving life. (And, getting helllllaaa money)’

FAVOURITE ARTIST AND PRODUCER AT THE MOMENT AND ALL TIME?

‘My favourite producer right now is STWO and my favourite vocalist right now, is probably Dom Kennedy, he just gets me all kinds of happy because he got that summer vibe to him. My favourite producer of all time is too hard to say, I have way too many and I could go on for days. I would say Hi-Tek, Thes one, MF Doom and ANT is some of them... My favourite artist of all time is Essence Donn, simply because he made my favourite song.’

FAVOURITE HIP HOP ALBUM?

‘Anything Gucci Mane... ok I’m just kidding, but I really like Gucci Mane.
Below the heavens by Blu & Exile is my favorite album though.'

ARE WE EXPECTING ANY FUTURE COLABORATIONS WITH ANY UPCOMING OR ALREADY ESTABLISHED ARTISTS?

‘Yes, I am working on an EP, produced by Eric Dingus, check him out. I am also working with my collective OGZNTHAHOOD and my girl Reem, who's the other member of our duo MASHALLAHGURLZ, we are releasing a song called ''Allah Made Me Pretty'', which is a house-ish, hip hop song.’

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR GENRE?

‘I'm like the rap game power puff.’

HOW WOULD YOU EXPLAIN YOUR STYLE?

‘Well my style is very street, everything from long tees to bucket hats. I'm a very laid back and chill person, and I don't spend too much time on my looks. I just like to look natural, and wear whatever I feel looks good.'

WHATS YOUR MAIN INSPIRATION OR INFLUENCE IN LIFE?

'Music, drugs and boys. That's basically me summed up in 3 words (if you add freckles, you'll have me).’

FAVOURITE STRAND OF WEED?

‘I love all weed, but my favourite has to Indica. And my favourite Indica is Sticky strawberry.’
